Our Mission

Our team

Dr. Abdul Awan

My journey into chiropractic started well before I was born. In the mid 1980’s, my dad visited a chiropractor and since then our whole family has had an affinity for chiropractic. I have always loved connecting with people, and to do that along with helping people live their best lives is something that inspired me to become a chiropractor.

On my off time I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, as well as playing sports such as football, cricket and squash.

Areas of interest

I enjoy seeing people of all ages, whether it’s infants or little children all the way to older adults. I spent the majority of 2022 in Pakistan taking part in research where we were working with people of all ages, particularly with children, and infants with different abilities. I’m excited to take this experience forward and serve the communities of Inglewood and New Plymouth.

“90% of the stimulation and nutrition to the brain is generated by the movement of the spine”
Roger Sperry, 1981 Nobel Prize winner for brain research

In human beings, nerve messages are transmitted from the body to the brain and from the brain to the body over the nervous system. The nervous system includes the spinal cord that passes from the skull down through the spinal column, and the spinal nerves that pass from the spinal cord to the rest of the body between the individual spinal vertebrae. Every function from movement, digestion, breathing, quality of sleep, the function of your immune system, how you deal and respond to stress and heal (to name just few…) is controlled and coordinated by the nerve system..

Stresses through life come in different forms: physical (bad posture, lack of movement, injuries, birth trauma, etc), emotional (chronic stress, etc) or chemical (toxins, poor diet, etc). Those can affect the function of the spine and lead to some misalignments (that chiropractors call “vertebral subluxation”). Research has shown that this affect the way the central nervous system is processing information. As chiropractors, we locate and facilitate the correction of those misalignments (i.e. vertebral subluxations) using specific and gentle adjustments.

Chiropractic is not designed to make you instantly feel better but to make you instantly heal better.
